  • Spent the next seventeen seasons as a Division I assistant coach, spending time under head coaches Mike McLeese (Howard), Larry Davis (Furman), John Beilein (Richmond and WVU), Dennis Felton (Georgia) and Shaka Smart (VCU)
  • Hired in June 2011 as the head coach at Radford, his first college head coaching position
    • Led the Highlanders to back-to-back CBI appearances in 2014-2015
    • Earned a share of the Big South title in 2019 and 2020; won the Big South Tournament in 2018 and earned COY honors
    • Went 174-150 overall in ten seasons at the helm, 81-47 over the last four seasons (2017-21)
  • In April 2021, Jones was hired as the head coach at UNC Greensboro in the SoCon
    • Is 58-38 through three seasons at UNCG, winning 20+ games in both 2022-23 and 2023-24
