Bad news for SSA beneficiaries ― Millions won’t receive any check on Wednesday

With so many Americans relying on Social Security benefits, any delay in this payment or having to wait for this payment can seem rather overwhelming. Today is the day that many beneficiaries may receive their payments. However, some recipients won’t be receiving their payments today. Citizens who are part of the list of recipients due to receive their June payment today will need to take note of who will receive over $5,000 and who won’t be receiving this payment amount.  With $5,108 going out to eligible recipients, citizens should consider everything from payment delays to payments being made this June.

Who won’t be receiving payment today, 11 June 2025?

While citizens already seem somewhat baffled as to why the first payment date is so late this month, citizens must remember the delay is due to how the Social Security Administration (SSA) schedules monthly payments.

Almost all Social Security recipients receive payments on Wednesday, and the Wednesday on which they receive their payment is based on a citizen’s birthdate in the month. Those beneficiaries who started receiving benefits before May 1997 received their payment checks on June 3.

However, everyone else was expected to wait until the second Wednesday of the month to start receiving payments. Citizens who have birthdates between July 1st and 10th will be receiving their Social Security benefits on Wednesday, June 11. Payments will be received on June 18 or June 25 for other citizens whose birthdates fall later in the month.

What payment amount will be received on June 11?

The big payment day is here for many retirees and disabled workers whose birthday falls on the first 10 days of any month. As per the Social Security payment schedule:

  •  June 11, Wednesday, is the payment date for the one group of beneficiaries born between the 1st and the 10th of any month.

Those who qualify for Survivor benefits or for Social Security Retirement, Disability (SSDI), will see payments arriving in their bank accounts on June 11, too. Retired workers receive on average $1,999; however, some recipients could receive about $5,108, due to the age at which they started collecting their retirement benefits and their working history.

Why won’t SSI recipients be seeing their June payment?

While some SSA beneficiaries received bad news in the form of no more benefits until mid-June, SSI recipients won’t see any payments in their bank accounts this June. The lack of SSI payments this June is yet again not a mistake on the part of the SSA. It is simply a calendar quirk. Since the SSI payment date fell on the weekend and the SSA does not issue payments on weekends, SSI beneficiaries received their June payment on Friday, May 30.

Since June’s SSI payment was paid out in May, no SSI checks would be received in June. The next SSI payment will be deposited on Tuesday, July 1. The average SSI payment is about $717,87 and supports low-income individuals who are blind, elderly, or have a disability.

How to react if your Social Security benefit does not get paid on June 11?

There are some citizens on the list to receive $5,000 payments today; however, not every beneficiary receiving payments today will see a payment of $5,000. The payment of $5,000 is the maximum Social Security payment that citizens can receive. The $5,000 payment will only be paid out to citizens who started receiving their benefits at the maximum retirement age of 70 years. Since payments tend to get issued electronically, most citizens will receive their payments on time.

There may be 1% of citizens who are due to receive payment of between $2,000 to $5,000 but will not see their payment today. These citizens should:

  • Wait three days and contact the SSA by 16 June 2025.
  • Visit the local SSA office during business hours.

All citizens receiving Social Security benefits this month should keep their eyes on their bank accounts every Wednesday for the rest of the month, as they will receive payments on a Wednesday based on when their birthdays fall within any given month.
