Stellantis, the giant automotive conglomerate, has been experiencing serious problems with the 2500 and 3500 models of the Ram HD Truck.
Technical problems were identified in a production batch at the Saltillo factory in Mexico, and this has a direct impact on customer satisfaction, which may be a concern for the brand.
Find out more information about the manufacturing batch with errors and understand how to identify if your vehicle was one of those impacted.

The models were projected by Stellantis North America and manufactured between January and February 2025, but it was only in March that Stellantis North America identified the problem. The error was a delay in the display of the gear, which occurs after the driver physically changes the column shifter position of the car’s gear.
The company then had to act quickly to avoid further damage to the batch of cars and their customers. Checking the rules and regulations of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 101 and studying the case, the company — together with the supplier — figured out that this repair should be done through a software update of the car’s panel, at no additional cost to the consumers.
The recall affects cars produced between 2023 and 2025, especially the units of the Heavy Duty lineup.
How to identify if my car has this problem
Because the car model was made at the Saltillo factory in Mexico, all cars related to this unit have the same Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), which is 3. Therefore, to find out if your car may present this problem in the gear panel, check your car’s code. This is a unique code of 17 characters (numbers and uppercase letters) that identifies a specific vehicle.
After identifying the VIN, the problem can be resolved independently by the car owner after the company notifies them, with the necessary guidelines and other information will be sent via letter in June 2025.
Remember that Stellantis will cover the cost of updating this software, and in addition, because the American automaker’s factory is located in Mexico, they will also be required to pay for the additional import cost of any car that will need to be replaced at the dealerships.
Be aware of the notification deadline to adjust your car.
This problem can really affect the brand’s reputation?
Although the problem has already been identified, it could cause serious damage to the reputation of Stellantis, which is one of the biggest automakers in the world. This is because of the level of seriousness this problem has and what it can entail for a driver.
An inaccurate gear selection display may mislead the driver to think that he didn’t shift into gear, even though he has, leading to unexpected moves of the car and increasing the risk of a crash.
Ram HD Truck sales remain strong and rising across America, but the company needs to take a new stance by improving monitoring of new models during the car’s testing period, so a problem like thid doesn’t end up causing great harm to the brand by putting a driver’s life at risk.
Sometimes it’s necessary to take precautions with the operation of your car
The recall of the Ram HD Truck is a good reminder that no vehicle is perfect, even the most wanted, expensive, and luxury ones. Despite being produced by one of the most famous automakers, it’s very important to take some precautions with more rigorous inspections. A good inspection of the car can guarantee the safety of the driver, their family, and other people involved in traffic.
