The NFL Draft is upon us and we could not be more excited. This years draft class is significantly different than previous years. In the past, the draft class was populated by a large number of quarterbacks that always dominated the early rounds picks and trades. This year the draft is offering teams a more varied range of players in a number of different positions. The NFL Draft has produced some truly astounding moments in the past. But it must be said that being an early pick is not a guarantee of success. And vice versa. Not being picked on the first day of the draft does not mean you will not be successful.
What has the NFL draft produced in the previous years?
The drama on and leading up to draft day in the NFL has always been entertaining for all the fans and pundits. Some truly memorable moments have happened in the green room on draft day. What surprises will this years edition throw at us? The draft has the NFL world consumed at the moment with everybody and their dad giving their own mock draft for debate.
The options for the teams are going to be interesting this year. And the players will need to be reminded that even if you don’t get picked early, you can still make a success of yourself. We all know the infamous Tom Brady draft story. Tom Brady was selected in the 6th round NFL Draft by the New England Patriots. He was chosen as the 199th overall pick that year. We all know how his career ended up going.
So the drama that the draft brings is nothing new. All the teams in the NFL will have spent months, perhaps even years in some cases, planning for this years draft. What their plans are is left to speculation. And there is always a lot of that in the NFL. This season will be different however in many ways. The TV pundits spend hours pouring over every possible scenario and trade that could take place. So here’s ours.
What could possibly happen in the first round of the 2025 Draft?
The one thing that nearly everyone in the NFL is certain about is that the number one pick will be the Tennessee Titans selecting Cam Ward. That is pretty much a given at this point. The Titans had a horrible season last year and are trying to rebuild their organisation. Cam Ward is a quarterback who will no doubt assist them in their plans to become a force to be reckoned with in the NFL.
Second pick is where things get a bit hazy. The possible scenarios are insane. But, the second pick at the moment goes to the Cleveland Browns. They have a long list of needs that they are looking to fill. So whether they go for a Travis Hunter or Abdul Carter is debatable, they might even end up trading their pick with another team further down the order.
Third pick goes to the New York Giants. The Giants have suffered since the Eli Manning era came to an end. They have spent a lot of time with Shedeur Sanders over the past year. They have paid more attention to him than any other team. However, Shedeur Sanders has a reputation and that might not be to the Giants liking too much. One thing that is nearly certain is that the Giants are looking for a quarterback. Who that will be is still up in the air.
What will the 2025 season have in store for this draft class?
The money that players in the NFL are making nowadays is astounding. The prospect of earning millions of dollars must be an exciting one for the draft class this year. The draft always offers us an opportunity to inspect the new crop of talent coming into the league and debate where their talents might be best suited. This year features significantly less quarterbacks at the top end of the order. Is this the year of the defender in the draft? The answers to this and many more questions will soon be given to us.
