- Born April 21, 1979
- Hometown: Marshall, North Carolina
- Alma Mater: University of North Carolina at Asheville (BA, 2001)
- Following a stellar prep career at Madison HS, McDevitt played four years for the Bulldogs under head coach Eddie Biedenbach
- After graduating in 2001, McDevitt became one of Biedenbach‘s assistants
- Elevated to associate head coach in 2011, holding that position for two seasons
- Promoted to head coach in April 2013 following the retirement of Biedenbach
- Led the Bulldogs to the 2016 NCAA Tournament in his third season as head coach by way of a Big South Tournament title
- Shared the Big South title in 2017 and won outright in 2018, going to the CIT and NIT respectively in those seasons
- Hired in March 2018 to be the new head coach at Middle Tennessee
- In 2022, McDevitt led the Blue Raiders to a Conference USA East title and was named CUSA COY
