NIT Season Tip-Off Champions

Full list of NIT Season Tip-Off champions, including head coach, by year. The NIT Season Tip-Off is an early season Division I men’s college basketball tournament that has taken place in November annually since 1985. The event was originally called the Preseason NIT to distinguish it from the postseason NIT. For the first 29 years, the event took the form of a bracketed tournament with semifinal and final match-ups taking place at Madison Square Garden in New York City. In 2014, the format changed to a four-team showcase, with the winners and losers of the first two games facing each other the following day (all games still held at MSG, unless otherwise noted).
