Deadline to claim $300 is Wed. 18 — See if you qualify for a new class action

Bad news for SSA beneficiaries ― Millions won’t receive any check on Wednesday

One state is paying $725 ― First group will receive cash on June 15

Tomorrow will be a very bright day if your birthday happens to fall between the 1st and the 10th of the month. Wednesday, June 11, will see Social Security Administration (SSA) payments going out to all eligible citizens. Tomorrow’s payment signifies the day of the first Social Security payments going out for June. One specific group of beneficiaries will receive about $4,000 tomorrow. Although not as high as the $5,108 payment that retirees who waited until 70 will receive, it is a considerable amount. Citizens need to check if they are on the list to receive a payment of $4,018.

Why no Supplemental Security Income (SSI) this June?

As it is already time for the first Social Security checks to go out, SSI beneficiaries may be wondering why they haven’t received their SSI payments for the month yet. The truth is these beneficiaries have received their payments; however, because June 1 fell on the weekend, the payment for SSI came in at the end of May.

SSI refers to benefits specifically for low-income individuals of 65 years or older who have a qualifying disability. These benefits are different from the standard Social Security retirement payments. SSI, therefore, tends to get paid out earlier in the month before the Social Security benefits. Citizens who have not received this second SSI payment at the end of May should contact their nearest SSA office. The SSA recommends that citizens wait for at least 3 days before reporting any delayed or missing payments.

Who will see payments coming in tomorrow, Wednesday, June 11?

After the wait until mid-June, finally, SSA beneficiaries will no longer have bad news since Social Security payments will be going out tomorrow. Citizens whose birthdays fall within the first ten days of the month will see their Social Security benefits reach their bank accounts on June 11. This Social Security payment will only go out to beneficiaries who started receiving their benefits after May 1997. Beneficiaries who started receiving Social Security benefits before May 1997 should have already received their benefits on June 3.

As per the Social Security payment schedule, all Social Security payments for the month are distributed according to the recipient’s birth date, with all payments being paid on Wednesdays in the month:

  • June 11: Payments for citizens with birthdays between the 1st and 10th
  • June 18: Payments for citizens with birthdays between the 11th and 20th
  • June 25: Payments for citizens with birthdays between the 21st and 31st

Tomorrow will be a good day for those who have birthdays between the 1st and 10th of the month; however, for some beneficiaries, they could be seeing a maximum payment of $4,018 in their bank accounts tomorrow.

Who is eligible for the $4,018 maximum benefit?

Citizens who will receive the $5,108 maximum benefit are those who waited up until the age of 70 to start claiming their benefits. However, the maximum monthly payment for retirees who started receiving their benefits between 66 to 67 years is about $4,018.

Although the $4,018 benefit amount is rather appealing, not everyone receives this maximum benefit. There are certain eligibility criteria necessary to be deemed eligible for this benefit. To receive this maximum Social Security payment, citizens must:

  • Have worked for at least 35 years.
  • Earned the maximum taxable income during those working years. This year, the maximum taxable income amount is $168,600.
  • Have started collecting benefits at full retirement age (FRA), currently 66 to 67, depending on your birth year.

While it is good to start collecting your retirement benefit from the age of 66 or 67, it is even better to start collecting the full maximum benefit of $5,108 at the age of 70. Delaying when you start collecting these Social Security benefits can make a considerable difference in terms of the amount you receive. Nevertheless, this payment of over $4,000 is well worth it and may put a smile on many retirees’ faces tomorrow.
