The future is always bright for young men who join baseball and are ready to make a difference in the MLB. Young players such as Luis Guevara. Unfortunately, at times, what we expect of life decides something else, and the painful part is when young people die. He did not even taste how good his career would have been; he did not get a chance to know which position he would play so well, and the benefits that come from being part of the MLB. However, today we talk of something else, something that cannot be undone. He was almost there, a minor who had dreams, all taken away from him just like that.

Young blood carries the MLB; when they die, it affects a lot of things in the league

Youth or young blood is something so significant in society, not only in sport. When young people show interest in certain activities or career paths, there is always an element of needing grooming, training, guidance, and all. That is what the Baltimore Orioles were doing for minor leaguer Luis Guevara. There is always potential for every young player who desires to kick it off big in baseball.

This tragedy has made a lot of things pause, to take a breather and try to process how all this unfolded. Young players carry the leagues or teams in a way that older players cannot. They have energy and innovation and can come up with strategies that can boost the leagues over time. Therefore, losing them can affect the entire plan and goal of a team, including emotionally.

Too soon gone: Tragic news shakes Baltimore’s baseball family after the death of Luis Guevara

He was only 19 and only starting to find himself. He had so much life in him, and coaches expressed that he was “dedicated”, “driven”, and “always smiling”. Sport reporters expressed that he was involved in a personal watercraft crash in Sarasota, Florida, on Sunday. You can imagine how his family is feeling and how devastating this is for them to process and accept.

The Orioles had to put all their plans on hold as the news came unexpectedly and unsettling, and in a statement on X, formerly Twitter, Orioles executive vice president and general manager Mike Elias wrote,

“Luis was a beloved member of our organization, and we are devastated following his tragic passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and teammates and we ask for their continued privacy during this difficult time.”

Luis Guevara was part of the Dominican Summer League team

The Dominican boys are slowly and gradually making a difference in their lives through baseball, just like Pitcher Naykel Cruz, who recently signed with the Baltimore Orioles. It shows the dedication and the open opportunities that these leagues are providing for underprivileged minors and locations to make a difference. Furthermore, Luis Guevara had only played 10 games for the league, and still, his work ethic was evident.

This teaches us that baseball players are not just commodities or machines that are used to make profits when they make a good strike. But to see them as people, just a human being doing what he loves, and still making sure everyone benefits without oppression. This is not to say that is what happens in the MLB, but it is a sign that these things remind us once in a while that these strong, skilled elite players are people. We can see it when they get injured, and we can also see it when they try their best to make an impression. For example, after being signed, in his first game, Naykel Cruz achieved his first victory.
