  • Alma Mater: Gardner-Webb University (BA, 1990)
  • The VA-native played at Gardner-Webb for four seasons for head coach Jim Wiles
  • Started his coaching career at his alma mater, spending two years as an assistant under head coach Jim Johnson
  • Next were stints at Western Carolina under Phil Hopkins, including two years as associate head coach, and at Charlotte under Bobby Lutz, where he was part of two NCAA Tournaments and one NIT
  • Hired by Mark Gottfried at Alabama in 2001, working with the Tide for four seasons, with two SEC titles and four NCAA Tournaments
  • Became the head coach at Louisiana-Monroe in 2005, leading the Warhawks for five years and going 60-92 overall
  • After one year with the Gamecocks, Early reunited with Gottfried, spending six seasons as assistant head coach at NC State
  • In 2018, Early was hired to be a college scout by the Memphis Grizzlies in the NBA
