One day after being eliminated from the Horizon League Tournament, Milwaukee announced it was parting ways with head men’s basketball coach Patrick Baldwin. Hired in 2017, Baldwin was 57-92 overall and finished below .500 in each of his five years at the helm.

“On behalf of our entire program and the UWM community, we thank Coach Baldwin for his tireless work and for his time as the head coach of our program,” AD Amanda Braun said in the release. “We appreciate Pat’s genuine commitment to our student-athletes, whether that was on the court, in the classroom, or as a mentor to young adults. We certainly wish him and his family all the best moving forward.”

Baldwin was on the hot seat a year ago after going 10-12 (7-10) in the COVID-shortened schedule, but was kept on board and was able to recruit his son, Patrick Jr., a top-10 recruit who was seriously considering Duke. The younger Baldwin struggled with injuries and only played in 11 games, averaging 12.1 points and 5.8 rebounds. The Panthers only won 3 of those games en route to a 10-22 overall record and 9th place finish in the Horizon (8-14).
