  • Born October 30, 1966
  • Hometown: Mercer Island, Washington
  • Alma Mater: Duke University (BS, 1989, MBA, 1995 & JD, 1995)
  • Was a star athlete at Mercer Island HS (WA), twice the state’s player of the year and chosen as the first-ever McDonald’s All-American from Washington state
  • Played four years at Duke under HOF coach Mike Krzyzewski, starting at PG for three and serving as team captain as a senior
  • Continued his studies at Duke after going un-drafted in the 1989 NBA Draft, taking a short break in 1992 to spend a season with the Los Angeles Clippers as an assistant to head coach Larry Brown
  • Returned to Duke the following year, spending two years as an administrative assistant while finishing his MBA and JD
    • Then worked four seasons as one of Krzyzewski‘s full-time assistants
  • Hired in 1999 to be the head coach at Missouri, a position he held for most of seven seasons
    • Led the Tigers to the NCAA Tournament in each of his first four seasons and the NIT in his fifth
    • However, after finishing 16-17 in 2004-05 and with a 10-11 (3-7) record in February 2006, Snyder resigned
  • Initially stepped away from coaching but a year later became the head coach of the Austin Toros of the NBDL
    • Went 98-60 in three seasons, reaching the Playoffs each year and winning the NBDL COY award in 2009
  • Spent one year each as an assistant with the Philadelphia 76ers (under Doug Collins) and Los Angeles Lakers (under Mike Brown), then one season as an assistant under Ettore Messina with CSKA Moscow in the Russian PBL
  • Returned to the States in 2013, spending one year on Mike Budenholzer’s staff in Atlanta before being hired as Utah Jazz head coach in June 2014
    • Had a 372-264 regular season record in eight seasons with the Jazz, and a 21-30 Playoff record (six appearances); won 50+ games three times
    • Reached the Western Conference Semifinals three times (2017, 2018 and 2021)
    • Stepped down from his position as Utah’s head coach in June 2022
  • In February 2023, Snyder was hired to be the new head coach of the Atlanta Hawks
