- Hometown: Norfolk, Virginia
- Alma Mater: Virginia Wesleyan University (BA, 1980)
- Started his coaching career in 1983 with a two-year stint assisting at D-II Saint Michael’s College in Colchester, VT
- Spent the next ten years as a Division I assistant, working for three seasons at Tennessee-Martin (under Tom Hancock), three seasons at Campbell (under Billy Lee) and four seasons at UNC Greensboro (under Mike Dement)
- Elevated to head coach at UNCG in 1995, going 46-69 in four seasons at the helm
- Led the Spartans to Big South regular season and Tournament titles in his first year to reach the 1996 NCAA Tournament
- Win totals declined each of the next three seasons and Peele was let go in 1999 following a 7-20 (5-11) year
- Joined Ricky Stokes‘ staff at Virginia Tech in 1999, working with the Hokies for the next three seasons
- Hired by Gregg Marshall at Winthrop in 2002, where he was a part of three NCAA Tournaments in five seasons on the bench
- Elevated to head coach in 2007 when Marshall left for Wichita State and coached the Eagles for five seasons
- Compiled a 77-82 record overall, going 22-12 in his first year (2007-08) and 19-14 in his third year (2009-10)
- Won a share of the Big South title in 2008 and claimed Big South Tournament crowns in 2008 & 2010 to reach the NCAAT
- Fired in 2012 after back-to-back losing seasons (25-37 combined record over those two years)
- After a year out of coaching, Peele spent the 2013-14 season at Georgia State assisting new head coach Mark Byington
- Joined the staff at Tennessee State in 2014, spending the next four seasons as Dana Ford‘s associate head coach
- Ford had previously been a graduate assistant at Winthrop during Peele’s first year as head coach
- When Ford left for Missouri State in 2018, Peele joined Johnny Jones‘ staff at Texas Southern as a special assistant coach
- Peele reunited with Ford in 2022, spending two years as special assistant to the head coach at Missouri State
