Ray McCallum is out at Detroit Mercy after 8 seasons

Detroit Mercy has fired head coach Ray McCallum after eight seasons at the helm. The Titans are 44-42 over the last three seasons and have not been to the NCAA Tournament since 2012.

McCallum did have some success at UDM when his son, Ray Jr., was leading the Titans from 2010-2013. Unfortunately, he hasn’t been able to reach the postseason since 2013 when his son left school for the NBA.

Detroit was the third head coaching stop for McCallum, who was previously at Ball State (1993-2000) and Houston (2000-2004) before working as an assistant to Kelvin Sampson at both Oklahoma and Indiana.
