- Was a star player for coach John Russell at Seton Hall; helped the Pirates to three-straight NITs, winning the NIT title in 1953
- Had his jersey #12 retired by the program; inducted into the Seton Hall Athletic HOF in 1973
- Selected 4th overall in the 1953 NBA Draft by the Rochester Royals, but deferred his career two years to serve in the US Marine Corps
- Spent three seasons with the Royals (who moved to Cincinnati in 1957) and one with the Baltimore Bullets of the EPBL
- Named to the NBA All-Star team in 1957; averaged 8.3 ppg, 2.6 rpg and 2.8 apg over his career
- Returned to Seton Hall in 1960 to be the head basketball coach; went 112-131 in ten seasons at the helm
- Stepped down from coaching in 1970 and spent the next two years as assistant athletic director at the school
- Became the athletic director in 1972, serving in that role for the next thirteen years until 1985
- As AD, Regan launched women’s athletics at SHU (1973) and became one of the founding ADs of the Big East Conference (1979)
- Worked as executive director of the Pirate Blue Athletic Fund until 1998 when he became special asst to the VP of University Affairs
- Passed away in December 2002 at the age of 72; survived by wife, Sue, and eight children
