- Alma Mater: University of Illinois (BA, 1980) / Roosevelt University (MA, 1983)
- Played for Hall of Fame head coach Lou Henson at Illinois, twice winning Academic All-Big Ten honors
- Started coaching right after graduating in Chicago-area high schools, first as an assistant at Palatine HS
- Spent two years as the head coach at Wauconda HS and then six more at Glenbrook South HS in Glenview, IL
- Was an assistant coach at the Division I level for the next 12 years, working under Jim Molinari (NIU, Bradley), Lon Kruger (Illinois) and Bill Self (Illinois) before being hired as the head coach at Northern Illinois in 2001
- Won 74 games in six seasons in Dekalb, and claimed the MAC West division title in 2005-06
- Was an assistant under Tim Jankovich for five seasons at Illinois State and one more under Dan Muller before joining Tom Crean‘s staff at Indiana in 2014 as Director of Basketball Operations
- Became a full-time assistant a year later, spending two seasons in that position before Crean was let go
- Spent four seasons as a special assistant to head coach Steve Wojciechowski at Marquette (2017-21) and then one season in the same role on Tony Stubblefield‘s staff at DePaul
- Returned to Illinois State in 2022 for a second stint as an assistant there, this time for new head coach Ryan Pedon
- Along with his wife, Dr. Kim Judson, has three children
