  • Started his coaching career with stints as an assistant at D-III Bard College under head coaches Gregory Dixon and Chris Wood (one year each)
    • Next spent one year as an assistant at alma mater SUNY New Paltz, working under head coach Doug Pasquerella
  • After one year as an assistant there, Jones spent two seasons as head coach Saint Mary’s HS in Manhasset, NY
    • Went 32-15 overall, advancing to the Nassau-Suffolk Catholic League title game in both seasons
  • Became an assistant at Norfolk State in 2007, spending six seasons on the staff of head coach Anthony Evans
    • Was part of two postseason trips, including the 2012 NCAA and 2013 NIT
  • Named interim head coach in 2013 when Evans left for FIU, elevated to permanent head coach following the season
