- Alma Mater: State University of New York at Oneonta (BA, 1997) / Indiana University (MA, 2002)
- Started coaching career at alma mater D-III SUNY Oneonta in 1996, spending three seasons as an assistant under Jeri Mirabito
- Became the associate head coach at NAIA SUNY Delhi in 1999, serving two years in that role
- Joined Mike Davis‘ staff at Indiana in 2001 as a volunteer assistant while earning his master’s degree; was part of the Hoosiers staff when the team made a run to the NCAA Tournament final in 2002
- Became the DBO at Washington State in 2003 under head coach Dick Bennett; elevated to assistant three years later under new coach Tony Bennett
- Followed Bennett to Virginia in 2009 as an assistant coach; promoted to associate head coach in 2015
- Served as an assistant coach with the Dominican Republic national team in the summer of 2013
- Hired in March 2018 as the new head coach of the Charlotte 49ers
- Improved from eight wins in his first season to a 16-13 (10-8 C-USA) in year two
- In 2023, the 49ers went 22-14 overall and were the CBI Champions
- In June 2023, Sanchez resigned from his role at Charlotte to return to Virginia and rejoin Bennett‘s staff as associate head coach
