Saint Peter’s hires Shaheen Holloway as head coach
Seton Hall associate head coach Shaheen Holloway has been tabbed as the new head coach at Saint Peter’s. This will be the first head coaching position for Holloway, a former All-Big East guard at Seton Hall and star prospect at St. Patrick’s HS (Elizabeth, NJ).
Holloway has been coaching and recruiting in the area since 2006. The Saint Peter’s campus is less than twelve miles from Seton Hall, so the move will be an easy one for Holloway. SPU AD Bryan Felt is a Seton Hall grad himself and was previously the associate AD there.
Since joining the Iona staff in 2007, Holloway has coached under Kevin Willard. In a statement Wednesday, Willard said “Saint Peter’s has hired a rising star in Shaheen Holloway… He is a dedicated student-athlete mentor, ace recruiter, a terrific skill development coach and an even greater person.”
Saint Peter’s was looking for a new head coach after John Dunne left for MAAC rival Marist last month. Dunne had been with the Peacocks for 12 years, where he went to one NCAA Tournament and led the team to a CIT Championship title in 2017. Dunne also came to Saint Peter’s after a stint as an assistant at Seton Hall and, like Holloway, is a Queens native.
