• Scott Davenport
• Born January 25, 1957
• Hometown: Louisville, Kentucky
• Alma Mater: University of Louisville (BA)
• Attended Iroquois HS in Louisville and then, after one year at Georgetown College (KY), attended the University of Louisville
• Started his coaching career as a graduate assistant at UL under head coach Denny Crum
• Spent one year on Mike Pollio‘s staff at VCU before returning to Louisville to coach in the high school ranks
• In 10 years as the head coach at Ballard HS (KY), Davenport was 258-69; won a state championship in 1988
• Became a full assistant coach on Crum‘s UL staff in 1996, serving in that capacity for the next nine seasons
  • Stayed on staff in 2001 when Rick Pitino took over as head coach; was part of the Cardinals’ 2005 Final Four appearance
• Left his alma mater in 2005 to become the head coach at Division II Bellarmine (also in Louisville)
  • Has been the Knights’ head coach ever since, holding a 421-171 overall record as of the end of the 2023-24 season
  • Won six GLVC regular season titles and five GLVC Tournament crowns
  • Reached 12 D-II NCAA Tournaments, advancing to four Final Fours and winning the 2011 D-II National Championship
  • The program moved up to Division I (joining the ASUN) starting with the 2020-21 season
  • After finishing just one game back in the 2020-21 ASUN standings, the Knights were invited to the CBI in their first year in D-I
  • Davenport and the Knights won the 2022 ASUN Tournament but were ineligible for the NCAA Tournament
• Inducted into the Kentucky Athletic Hall of Fame (c/o 2016)
• Along with his wife, Sharon, has two sons; his son, Doug, played at Bellarmine and now serves as an assistant coach there
