- Alma Mater: Butler University (BA, 1993) / Valparaiso University (MA, 1994)
- Father is Homer Drew, a Hall of Fame coach best known for the 22 years he spent as the head coach at Valparaiso
- Younger brother, Bryce Drew, is also a college head coach, having led the Valparaiso, Vanderbilt and Grand Canyon programs
- After graduating from Valparaiso HS (IN), Drew went to Butler where he served as a student manager for two seasons with the men’s basketball team (then coached by Barry Collier)
- Drew joined his father‘s staff at Valpo as an assistant in 1993, working in that role for the next nine seasons
- Took over as head coach in 2002, reached the 2003 NIT by way of a Summit League regular season title
- Hired as Baylor head coach in 2003; Drew inherited a program devastated by a scandal involving improper benefits to players by previous coach Dave Bliss, brought to light by the murder a BU player by a teammate
- Drew’s teams won just 21 total games through the first three years, but by 2008 he had the Bears back in the NCAA Tournament
- Baylor won the 2013 NIT Championship; Drew had earlier led the Bears to an NIT runner-up finish in 2009
- Drew became the winningest head coach in Baylor history (202 wins) on March 12, 2014, when the Bears won their opening round Big 12 Tournament match-up with TCU; he now has more than 400 wins at BU
- Has been to twelve NCAA Tournaments with Baylor, advancing to the Sweet 16 or further on five occasions
- In 2021, led the Bears to their first NCAA Final Four since 1950 and won the program’s first-ever National Championship
