Scott Nagy named new Wright State head coach

Scott Nagy had spent the last 21 seasons as the head coach at South Dakota State, a program that transitioned to Division I during his tenure and has since been to three NCAA Tournaments in the last five seasons. Now he’s on to his next challenge, taking over at Wright State.

Wright State has been to the NCAA Tournament just twice, the last such appearance being in 2007. Previous head coach Billy Donlon took the Raiders to both a CBI and CIT during his six-year tenure, but was fired this offseason following a 22-13 finish in 2015-16. For a program with such little NCAA Tournament history, it seems the expectations are high at Wright State.

Nagy appears to be up for the challenge, as he paved the way for the current Summit League powerhouse his Jackrabbits became. Just twelve short years ago, SDSU was still a Division II program in the North Central Conference. Yet Nagy leaves Brookings with a 410-240 overall record and a string of five-straight Division I post-season appearances.
