- Hometown: McHenry, Illinois
- Alma Mater: University of Tulsa (BA, 2011)
- Grew up in the Chicago area and was a star player at Marian Central Catholic HS (IL); initially attended Marquette before transferring to Tulsa in 2008, where he played three seasons for head coach Doug Wojcik
- Early coaching roles were at the prep level, including a three-year stint as the head coach at La Lumiere School in LaPorte, IN
- Went 82-7 overall with two national championship game appearances, winning it in 2017; ran a powerhouse program at La Lumiere, coaching three McDonald’s All-Americans and a total of 25 players who would go onto play Division I basketball
- Won several national COY awards and was named a game coach at the Jordan Brand All-American Game
- Hired by Dave Leitao in 2017 to be an assistant at DePaul; worked with the Blue Demons for four seasons, including CBI Runner-up in 2019
- Joined Tony Barbee‘s staff at Central Michigan in 2021, spending the next two seasons as his associate head coach
- Heirman was hired in May 2023 to be the new head coach at Incarnate Word in the Southland
