Four trades in one day as NFL gets set for new season

New York and San Francisco Giants answer decade-old fan question

Shedeur Sanders has not had an ideal preseason with the Cleveland Browns. His first game started well, but an injury kept him sidelined for game 2 of the preseason. In game 3, his performance was lacking, but not exactly poor. The game was the last preseason match for the Browns as they went up against the mighty Los Angeles Rams. The game ended with a win for the Browns, but as always, Sanders has been at the center of controversy following a decision by the head coach, Kevin Stefanski, to bring in another quarterback to lead the team down the field for the last few minutes of the game.

Shedeur Sanders has had an interesting introduction to the NFL

The NFL draft is no stranger to drama. Over the years, the NFL fans have been subjected to shock and awe during the draft weekend event. This season’s draft was dominated by Shedeur Sanders. The former Colorado player was the major talking point for the legions of fans and pundits ahead of the draft. His attitude and general demeanor did not sit well with nearly all the NFL teams. He was expected to be selected in the second or third rounds.

However, as the draft progressed, Shedeur did not hear his name being called. The weekend would go on, and every day that Sanders was not selected was like a wet dream for the journalists in attendance. It was probably a good idea for Sanders to watch from home, as he would have been hounded by the press at the draft. He would slip to the fifth round and be selected by the Cleveland Browns. Some speculated whether his father had a hand in that.

It’s been a rollercoaster ride for Shedeur Sanders this preseason

Sanders impressed the fans and pundits in his first game. He threw two touchdown passes against the Carolina Panthers in week 1 of the preseason games. He was sidelined with an injury for Game 2. Then, as the finale of the preseason matches came knocking, many expected Shedeur to put in another impressive performance against the Rams.

He only managed to complete three of six passes for 14 yards, well below the expectations of the team. To add to that misery, he was sacked five times in five drives as the Browns made their way up the football field. With just two minutes left on the clock, Kevin Stefanski had a choice to make: bring in Sanders to push for the win, or relieve him of the duty and entrust the responsibility to one of the Browns’ other quarterbacks. He chose the latter. The NFL is facing a new era this season as change is on the cards.

Sanders takes to social media and shows love for the fans

With the news of the Olympic debut of the sport, all eyes are on the NFL at the moment. Shedeur took to social media after the game to share his thoughts and appreciation for the fans. The decision was to prove the right for the coach as the Browns would go on to score a field goal to win the game. The Browns have a lot to prove to the NFL and their fans as they took a chance on Shedeur Sanders and need to ensure that selecting the 23-year-old was not a mistake. Time will tell as the season fast approaches.

“I didn’t know I was out. Yeah, I didn’t know. I was on a bike, I was powering up. I was powering up for that two-minute drive because that’s just a situation every quarterback dreams for. That’s many situations I’ve been in before, and I thought I was in, so then he told me I wasn’t in, and I was like, ‘OK.’ Thanks, everyone, for the [love] and support. There’s a lot to learn from this preseason, but I’m really thankful for the opportunity to be out there. Day by day, rep by rep, I’ll keep learning and getting better.”
