The solar-powered car has not received the kind of investment that it deserves. Now, an American startup is looking to change all that. The fascination that the world has for the alternatively powered vehicle has led to some amazing achievements in recent years. The emergence of the EV was proof that the world needed to embrace the move away from gasoline-powered vehicles. This move has resulted in some new and innovative cars being designed and built for the future. Can this start-up lead us into a future without gasoline?

What are the best forms of alternative fuel at the moment?

The first and most obvious choice for any climate-conscious car buyer is the electric vehicle. Tesla and BYD have made substantial progress in the EV sector. So much so that the EV has become a regular occurrence on the roads of the world. However, the lithium battery packs that EVs use are volatile and difficult to make, so the world has begun searching for another solution.

Hydrogen has proven to be a popular choice for those not in favor of the EV. Hydrogen is the most abundant element in the universe and is a real and viable solution to the world’s energy problems. Whether it be the hydrogen fuel cell or the newer hydrogen-powered internal combustion engine, hydrogen has some promise, but the infrastructure is lacking.

So, if you do not want an electric vehicle and are not swayed by the hydrogen alternative, what is left? The answer is solar power. Solar power has existed for some time now, although it never got the kind of investments and support that EVs or their hydrogen cousins did. Now, a company based in America is looking to change the way we power our cars, and they have recently released the results of their latest test.

Can the solar car drive us into the future without the need for gasoline?

The answer to that question is yes. Solar power has the potential to shift the narrative away from EVs and towards a technology that the world seems to have forgotten about. But with the results of this latest test, the attention of the automotive world has once again been shifted to solar power. If the technology can be improved, the solar car could replace the EV as the best alternative-powered car.

Aptera is a US-based company that has recently released the results of its latest tests of its solar car. The company was testing the overall performance and capabilities of its solar car, and the results are promising. While the technology is still in its infancy, the tests revealed that the solar car could be a real and viable option for global automotive consumers. The world has grown weary of the EV.

The test found that the solar car can come to a complete stop within three minutes when coasting. For any car, that is impressive. The testing took place in the Mohave desert and Aptera stated that the main focus was to test the powertrain losses and the aerodynamics of the vehicle while coasting. The results were groundbreaking, and if Aptera continues to get such positive results, we can expect the solar car on our roads sooner rather than later.

Will we all be driving solar-powered cars in the not-too-distant future?

If Aptera can continue refining the solar car that they have tested in the Mohave desert, we can expect to see the car become available for purchase. The tests were seen as a positive for the US-based startup, and the results were nearly exactly what was expected. Aptera is just the latest company striving for innovation in the automotive sector. The emergence of the alternatively powered vehicle is evidence that modern-day car buyers are eager to embrace a vehicle that offers new and innovative solutions to the world’s mobility needs.
