  • Alma Mater: Morris Harvey College (BA, 1950)
  • Played at Morris Harvey College (now the University of Charleston) in his hometown of Charleston, WV
    • Was a four-year starter under head coach Eddie King; inducted into the Golden Eagle Hall of Fame (c/o 1985)
  • Became the head coach at his alma mater in 1957, compiling a 147-76 record in eight seasons at the helm
    • The highlight was the 1961-62 campaign in which his Eagles won the WVIAC and reached the NAIA Sweet 16
  • Left to become an assistant under Bucky Waters at Division I West Virginia in 1965
    • Was a part of one NCAA Tournament and one NIT while on Waters’ staff
  • Elevated to head coach in 1969 when Waters left, going 57-68 in five seasons in that role
    • The Mountaineers left the SoCon in 1968 and remained Independent until ECBL (now A-10) in 1976
    • Failed to reach the postseason and finished below .500 in three of five seasons
  • Became the athletic director at Morehead State in 1974, serving in that capacity for 13 years
  • Left Morehead in 1987 to become the commissioner of the Division II Gulf South Conference (HQ in Gulf Shores, AL)
    • Retired from that position in 1992 and continued to live in the Gulf Shores area for the rest of his life
    • Passed away in 2016 at the age of 90
