- Alma Mater: Northwest Missouri State Teacher’s College (BA, 1932)
- Won a Missouri state HS championship in 1928 playing basketball for Oregon HS (MO)
- Played at Northwest Missouri State for Hall of Fame coach Henry Iba; was part of two MIAA championship teams
- Succeeded Iba as the head coach at his alma mater starting in 1933, leading the Bearcats for ten seasons
- Was 138-57 overall, finishing above .500 in every season at the helm
- His 1939-40 team went 20-1 and won the MIAA title
- Became the head coach at Missouri in 1946 and coached the Tigers for 16 seasons
- Compiled a 194-179 record overall as the Tigers competed in the Big Six/Seven/Eight
- During the 1961-62 season, Stalcup was also the President of the NABC
- After coaching, Stalcup worked as a radio broadcaster for Missouri basketball games
- Later became the athletic director at Mizzou, serving in that role for one year 1971-72
- Passed away in April 1972 at the age of 62
- Inducted into the Missouri Sports HOF (1979), Northwest Missouri State Sports HOF (1982) and Missouri HOF (1994)
