- Born October 14, 1970
- Hometown: Danville, Illinois
- Alma Mater: University of Southern Indiana (BA, 1999)
- Graduated from Danville HS (IL) but did not immediately play college basketball after graduation
- Spent one season at John A. Logan College (IL), where he was a NJCAA All-American, before transferring to D-II Southern Indiana where he played three seasons under head coach Bruce Pearl
- Gouard was a star at USI, twice named NABC D-II POY and twice a D-II All-American, he was also First-Team All-GLVC three times
- Was a key member of the 1994-95 Screaming Eagles team that won the NCAA D-II National Championship
- Played professionally for several years, spending time in Sweden, Colombia and Mexico, plus one season in the IBA (USA)
- Started his coaching career at alma mater Southern Indiana, spending the 2001-02 season as an assistant under Rick Herdes
- Next was a three-year stint at Indianapolis as an assistant on Todd Sturgeon’s staff; was part of three D-II NCAA Tournaments
- Moved to the Division I level in 2005, spending two seasons on Royce Waltman‘s staff plus one more working under Kevin McKenna
- Returned to Indianapolis in 2008 and served as the Greyhounds’ head coach for the next twelve seasons
- Went 228-117 overall, reaching the D-II NCAA Tournament seven times and winning 20+ games on six occasions
- The Greyhounds won a share of the GLVC East title in 2014 and Gouard was named GLVC Coach of the Year
- Left UIndy in April 2020 to become the head coach of the Southern Indiana Screaming Eagles
- Led USI to a share of the GLVC title and a D-II NCAA Tournament berth in his first season at the helm
- Gouard was head coach when the program decided to make the move to Division I in 2022 (joining the Ohio Valley)
- In the Eagles first season in D-I, they finished 16-17 (9-9) and made an appearance in the 2023 CBI
