  • Alma Mater: University of Delaware (BS, 1989)
  • Graduated from Howard Career Center HS (DE) and then played at Delaware for head coaches Ron Rainey and Steve Steinwedel
  • Started his coaching career after graduation with stints as an assistant coach at Sanford (DE) and Wilmington (DE)
  • Spent 31 years as head boys’ basketball coach (1990-2021) at Sanford School (DE), winning 571 games and eight state titles
    • Also served as Dean of Students (1994-2021) and Assistant Director of Athletics (2003-2021) at the school
    • Won Delaware state championships in 1992 (his first year at the school), 2002, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2016
  • Waterman has also been active with USA basketball, serving as an assistant coach at the 2020 USA Nike Hoop Summit and winning gold medals as an assistant with the U17 team in 2018 and U16 team in 2017
  • In June 2021, Waterman was hired to be the head coach at Delaware State, a D-I program in the MEAC
    • Went 15-18 in his third season, earning an invitation to the CBI – the fifth D-I postseason bid in program history
