- Was named to the McDonald’s All-American team in 1994 as a senior at Cardinal Gibbons School (Baltimore, MD)
- Played four seasons for Mike Krzyzewski on the Duke Blue Devils, going on to be honorable mention All-American in 1998
- Spent fifteen seasons on Krzyzewski’s staff at Duke, nine as an assistant and then six more as associate head coach
- Hired as the head coach at Marquette in April 2014, his first head coaching job
- Was 128-95 overall and went to two NCAA Tournaments in seven seasons at the helm
- Fired in March 2021 following a 13-14 season, his second sub-.500 record at Marquette
