To have a good representative, you need to send the best. That is what Team USA is doing for the upcoming World Boxing Cup in Asanta. The goal is to send the best players so that they can also gain a name for themselves. You can imagine already how the training sessions are and how useful the gyms have become. To be the best, you need to put in the best work, look the best, and showcase the best. For these boxers, it is not only about themselves and their reputation, but they are also representing the United States of America. They give the impression that the world will see what boxing in America looks like.
It is not a joke; the boxing squad is getting more elite than they already are
The atmosphere has shifted. Everyone is serious; coaches are walking around, talking, and taking action to ensure that the chosen ones (elite) go out of the training room more elite than they are. Fans? Oh, they are waiting to see how everything goes and how their best boxer shows off their talent. It is not something that was said, but it is a feeling that they are getting prepared and ready to take over the 2025 World Boxing Cup in Astana.
The World Boxing Cup: Astana 2025 will take place in the Zhaksylyk Ushkempirov Martial Arts Palace in Astana, Kazakhstan, from Monday, June 30, to Sunday, July 6, 2025. There has been no sleeping, eating unhealthy, slacking, lagging, delaying, or anything that will come between the winning of the USA elite boxers. Team USA has earned 14 medals so far. You know what that means? They need to go get more!
The USA team is different because of this
- They have experience, which is like the cherry on top. They know the ins and outs of what to expect, and they know how to navigate their opponents to earn a win.
- The 14 medals they have won are evidence that they have momentum; they are good at what they do; hence, they are the “elite” team.
- Depth: Robust lists for both women’s and men’s weight classes.
- Boxing in the United States is not a new sport; therefore, these players are trained enough to go out there and play their game in the most elite way ever.
Team USA boxing representatives
On Tuesday, July 1, five boxers will represent Team USA, starting with Orlando Zamora (male, 55 kg). In the event’s 46th battle, the native of Turlock, California, will square off against Dominican Republic boxer Junior Alcantara, who won silver at the 2024 Olympic Games. Robby “Rahim” Gonzales (guy, 80 kg) and Yoseline Perez (female, 54 kg) will follow Zamora. We will get to witness an “Andy Cruz knocks out Hironori Mishiro in an IBF eliminator” type of fight.
USA Boxing states that,
“USA Boxing Head Coach Billy Walsh (Colorado Springs, Colo.) will lead the charge for Team USA at the World Boxing Cup: Astana 2025.”
In bout No. 52, Gonzales will face Marlon Sevehon of Australia, while in bout No. 53, Perez will face Aeji Im of South Korea. This year, Perez is the only boxer from the United States to win both a gold and a silver medal in an international tournament. Here is the cool thing about this whole situation. It is not only about these boxers being skilled and good at what they do; it is more about how they come together as a team and represent their nation. Even though some of them have fought against each other, there is no time to show hate or dislike in the Richardson Hitchins and George Kambosos way.
