  • Hometown: Danville, Virginia
  • Alma Mater: Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (BA, 1979)
  • Started his playing career at VCU with Chuck Noe but transferred to and finished at Virginia Tech under head coach Charles Moir
  • Began coaching after graduation, with a number of assistant positions under head coaches Murray Arnold, Mack McCarthy, Frankie Allen, Oliver Purnell and Tommy Joe Eagles
  • Hired as the head coach at New Orleans in 1994, leading the Privateers to two Sun Belt titles and one trip each to the NCAA Tournament and NIT in three seasons
    • Eagles was originally hired by New Orleans in 1994, but passed away from a heart attack before ever coaching a game
  • Left UNO for Memphis in 1997, coaching the Tigers for the next two seasons
  • After one year as an assistant to Ron Everhart, Price spent the next five years as the Cowboys head coach
  • Spent one season on Johnny Jones‘ staff at North Texas; Jones was a former assistant of Price’s
  • Worked as an assistant to Steve Roccaforte at Lamar for three seasons before becoming Associate VP of Student Engagement
    • Made interim head coach with five games left in the 2013-14 season, then hired as permanent head coach in March 2014
    • Fired in March 2021 after compiling a 112-113 record in seven-plus seasons as the Cardinals’ head coach
  • Along with his wife, Jamie, has one son and one daughter
