- Alma Mater: Bemidji State University (BA, 1986 & MA, 1988)
- After playing at Waubonsee CC (IL) and Bemidji State, began his coaching career at Bemidji as a graduate assistant for Karl Salscheider, who was also his coach
- Spent five years at D-III Rockford University, becoming the youngest head coach in the nation (25) when he was elevated to that role in 1989; had previously spent one season as an assistant under Charles Schramm
- Went 50-52 during his tenure, with three 2nd-place finishes in the NIIC
- Became an assistant under Stu Jackson at Wisconsin in 1993, then spent five years on Ray McCallum‘s staff at Ball State
- Spent one year at Marquette – his first stint on Tom Crean‘s staff – before being hired as the Ball State head coach in 2000
- The Cardinals earned upset victories over #3 Kansas and #4 UCLA in the 2001 Maui Invitational before losing to #1 Duke in the title game; the team went on to finish 23-12 in the NIT quarters
- Fired in March 2006, spending the following season on Steve Alford‘s staff at Iowa
- Rejoined Crean at Marquette in 2007 and then followed him to Indiana in 2008
- Promoted to associate head coach leading into the 2015-16 season
- Was a part of four NCAA Tournament teams at IU, including three Sweet Sixteen appearances
- Hired in April 2019 to join T.J. Otzelberger‘s staff as an assistant at UNLV; worked with the Runnin’ Rebs for three seasons, the last coming under new head coach Kevin Kruger
- Joined Lamont Paris‘ first staff at South Carolina in April 2022 as an assistant coach
- Along with his wife, Shannon, has one daughter
