- Hometown: Queens Village, New York
- Alma Mater: Adelphi University (BS, 1983)
- Graduated from Martin Van Buren HS (NY) before playing at D-II Adelphi University in Garden City, NY
- Inducted into the Adelphi Athletic Hall of Fame in 2002 for his achievements as a basketball player
- First coaching job was as an assistant under future Davidson coach Bob McKillop at Long Island Lutheran HS (NY)
- Spent two seasons on Stu Klein’s staff at Nassau CC (NY) before becoming the head coach at SUNY Farmingdale, which was a junior college (now Division III Farmingdale State) at the time
- Went 62-24 overall in three seasons at the helm before moving up to the Division I level
- Was an assistant for one year each at UNLV (under Rollie Massimino) and Loyola Marymount (under John Olive)
- Returned to his home state in 1994 to be an assistant at Hofstra under newly hired head coach Jay Wright
- Part of one NIT and two NCAA Tournaments in his seven years with Wright
- Took over as the head coach of the Pride in 2001, leading the program for the next eight years
- Went 155-126 overall with three NIT appearances and a CBI berth in his final season
- Left in 2010 to take the head coaching job at Fordham, where he spent a total of five seasons
- Did not have much success, going just 44-106 with the Rams and never winning more than 10 games
- Pecora was hired in 2017 to be the associate head coach for Baker Dunleavy and the Quinnipiac Bobcats
- During the 2022 offseason, Pecora’s role changed to special assistant to the head coach
- In April 2023, Pecora was promoted to head coach of the Bobcats following Dunleavy’s departure to Villanova
- Led the Bobcats to their first-ever MAAC regular season title in 2024 (joined the league in 2013); was named 2024 MAAC COY
