  • Hometown: Indianapolis, Indiana
  • Alma Mater: University of Massachusetts (BA, 1993)
  • Played at UMass for head coach John Calipari, where he was twice named Second-team All-A10
  • After a short professional playing career in Spain and France, Barbee returned to UMass as a graduate assistant for Calipari
    • Promoted to full-time assistant in 1996 under new head coach Bruiser Flint
  • Spent one year at Wyoming under Steve McClain and one more with Flint at UMass before rejoining Calipari in Memphis in 2000
  • Hired as the UTEP head coach in 2006, going 82-52 overall in four seasons and winning 23+ games twice
    • Won a C-USA title in 2010 and earned a trip to the NCAA Tournament; was named C-USA COY that season
  • Became the Auburn head coach in 2010, where he went 49-75 in four seasons before being fired in 2014
  • Rejoined Calipari once again in 2014 at Kentucky, first as a special assistant then elevated to assistant coach a year later
  • Hired in April 2021 to be the new head coach at Central Michigan in the MAC
  • Along with his wife, Holly, has one daughter and one son
