  • John Anthony McAndrews
  • Alma Mater: St. Ambrose University (BA, 1966)
  • Played at NAIA St. Ambrose in Davenport, Iowa; inducted into the school’s Athletic Hall of Fame in 1984
  • Started his collegiate coaching career as an assistant for three seasons on Lute Olson‘s staff at Iowa
  • Hired to be the head coach at Colorado State in 1980, leading the Rams for the next seven seasons
    • Went 80-120 overall and failed to reach the postseason during his tenure; resigned in 1987
  • Reunited with Olson at Arizona in 1987, working with the Wildcats for the next seven years
    • The team went to the NCAA Tournament every year and reached the Final Four in both 1988 and 1994
  • Spent one year as an assistant under Doug Durham at Georgia Southern
  • Was the head coach at D-II Nova Southeastern in Fort Lauderdale, Florida for nine seasons (1995-2004)
  • After a stint coaching boys’ basketball at Pope John Paul HS (FL), McAndrews became an assistant with the Cleveland State women’s basketball program in 2009 and worked under head coach Kate Peterson Abiad for three seasons
