Toyota is moving with the times and has unveiled something different this time around. It is one of those brands we thought would never move away from hybrid vehicles; however, the car brand has seen the importance of alternative clean fuels that are good and efficient for the vehicle, and, of course, the key component, the environment. This project started a few years ago, and we have been waiting to see what Toyota will produce this time around, as it had promised a clean and eco-friendly project. This has been a quiet way for the car brand to bring in something different.
Toyota is quietly making a green move that will change our views on fuel
The automotive industry can feel the shift, change, and transformation happening. Although it is still and quiet, it is somehow loud because the brand making this change is a global car brand, and whatever it does or says, we listen, and we trust. It has shown to be reliable and trustworthy over the years with its other manufacturing, but this time around, it is not the usual, normal project. Toyota is making moves.
Toyota is now prepared to reveal what it was sitting on, like a hen on her eggs, waiting for them to hatch and ready to see the world. This is not the next big battery project made by Tesla or an electric vehicle that is meant to make our jaws drop; it is something simple, yet powerful in its simplicity. I can guarantee you this, though: it is about to change everything we know about a Toyota driving experience.
No hybrids, no EVs: Toyota’s next move is completely electricity-free
Since day one, the UK government has had a lot of involvement. Toyota and its consortium partners started talking about the prototype in September of 2023, and today, they are ready to complete the next step in the process. The EV race has been overwhelming for some companies at times, who have been under pressure to keep up. Toyota paused for a moment and went silent to produce an electricity-free vehicle.
It is called the Toyota hydrogen fuel cell Hilux project, a hydrogen fuel cell pickup. Here we have it. Toyota has gone with hydrogen, not gasoline, electric, or hybrid vehicles, purely hydrogen. I know by now you probably know why hydrogen is taking the win these days, particularly “green hydrogen”; it is clean, emits water, is lightweight, and the vehicle can be refuelled in just a few minutes. It gets better: travelling long distances is easier.
The world might not be, but Toyota is ready for hydrogen-powered vehicles
It looks like Toyota is knocking on those hydrogen doors. The GAZOO model runs 100% on hydrogen, a racing car that was manufactured by the brand. I am so convinced they discovered the full packaged benefits of having hydrogen-powered vehicles. One Toyota Europe exec said,
“We’re not replacing gasoline with electric. We’re replacing both.”
The Toyota Hilux project is unique because of the attributes it carries. Generally, the Toyota Hilux is a top car that the brand has made in the past years. Additionally, this project, because it now incorporates a clean fuel such as hydrogen, has made its value go higher. It is not the typical beauty-looking and stylish vehicle, but it is made for those rough and long travelling journeys and environments that are not very smooth. The hydrogen technology is moving fast despite the limited stations, and we can see how it is unfolding. There is nothing to hide: Toyota is going blue with just water and 20% more power with this engine.
