The Golden State Warriors have had a very quiet offseason this year. They are the only team that has not made any significant moves this summer. The teams in the NBA have been very busy this summer wheeling and dealing, as the 2025-26 season could be the most competitive in recent memory. The Kevin Durant trade set the league on fire as it was the most complicated and complex trade in NBA history. The Warriors, on the other hand, have made no significant trades this summer and are embroiled in the Jonathan Kuminga saga.

Several players have been linked to the Warriors this offseason

While the fans of San Francisco basketball will be worried by the radio silence, they can take some solace in the news that former NBA champion Al Horford is close to a deal that would bring the center to the golden shores of California. Horford has been linked to several teams, but the most likely destination would be the Warriors, as they desperately need a center right now.

Another player that has been linked with a potential move to Golden State is California native, Russel Westbrook. Westbrook has been moving around the NBA like a nomad in recent years. He has played for four different teams in four seasons as he enters the twilight of his career. However, Danny Emerman of The San Francisco Standard thinks the move would be a bad decision for both parties.

“It would make more sense for the Warriors to let Butler and Brandin Podziemski handle second-unit playmaking responsibilities than to turn bench lineups over to Westbrook and his all-gas-no-brakes style. The Warriors need less chaos, not more.” – Danny Emerman of The San Francisco Standard

There are more players who would fit in perfectly in San Francisco

The pundits and reporters who cover the NBA are known for their mock drafts and trades. Some of those are far from reality, while others actually have a chance of becoming a reality. The Warriors will surely sort out the Jonathan Kuminga contract dispute soon. Whether he will stay with the Warriors or end up being traded remains to be determined.

Another player that the Warriors might consider trading for to replace Kuminga is PJ Washington. NBA expert G.C. Bellachamber of FanSided has proposed the trade that would send Washington to the Warriors from the Dallas Mavericks. He would be a great replacement for Kuminga as he has many of the same skills and abilities.

While it is highly unlikely that the Mavericks would have any interest in Kuminga, given their aforementioned logjam in the frontcourt, the Warriors are also almost certainly planning on moving on from Kuminga sometime within the next year. Therefore, if they are eventually able to offload Kuminga’s salary to an interested team, they could then set their sights on Washington as the ideal addition in their frontcourt.” – NBA expert G.C. Bellachamber

Despite the rumors, fans of the Warriors remain concerned about next season

Steve Kerr is a phenomenal coach and will surely have a plan in place to bring in at least one or two players before the season starts. The Kuminga issue has distracted the Warriors team, and a solution needs to be found sooner rather than later. For the Warriors fans, who have justifiable concerns over the team’s lack of movement this summer, all they can do is hope and pray for Steve Kerr to come to his senses and trade for a few new players before the new season begins. Are the Warriors capable of winning the championship in 2025-26? We’ll have to wait to find out if they have a chance.
