  • Alma Mater: Fisk University (BA, 1957)
  • Was a standout basketball player at Phillis Wheatley HS in Houston and Fisk University (NAIA) in Nashville
  • Spent the first part of his career as the head coach at Kashmere HS back home in Houston
    • Went 485-135 over 18 years at Kashmere, which included a 78-game winning streak and two-straight Texas 4A state titles
  • Was hired by Ken Hayes to be an assistant coach at New Mexico State in 1975, serving in that capacity for four seasons
  • Took over as the Aggies’ head coach in 1979, going 82-84 over the next six seasons at the helm
    • Named MVC Coach of the Year in 1983 after the Aggies went 18-11 and finished tied for 3rd
    • Fired in 1985 following two-straight sub-.500 seasons, including a 7-20 (4-14) 1984-85 campaign
  • Later spent two seasons as an assistant at Oklahoma State, one each under Paul Hansen and Leonard Hamilton
  • Hired as head coach at NAIA Langston University, an HBCU in Langston, OK, in 1987
    • Went 153-169 overall in 12 seasons as the Lions’ head coach, retiring in 1999
  • Passed away in 2012 after an automobile accident outside of Stillwater, Oklahoma; he was 77 years old
