Goodbye to hydrogen cars ― This rotary prototype runs on a totally-different fuel

World War III? But in the automotive world, Xiaomi declares war on Tesla. This is interesting. Two car brands with significant value in the global market are going against each other. It is something car enthusiasts would love to see, more from Tesla lovers and Xiaomi lovers. It is not really the first two brands to compete against each other; while it is a rare thing, it does happen. This one stands out because Xiaomi has expressly come forth and made a decree that it wants this to happen. You can imagine what is going through Elon Musk’s mind right now. This is an open-plan competition that has just come to the surface.

Xiaomi is not playing, it’s a puppy barking at the big dog

China is a strong country when it comes to these things associated with engineering, technology, cars and so forth; therefore, Tesla has got a strong competitor, and it better come up with strategies that will keep it up before the tables turn. Here is the interesting part. Tesla was founded in 2003, and Xiaomi was founded in 2010. It can be considered a car brand that is fairly new within the market, and it is barking at a big dog like Tesla.

This is not about another making of an electric vehicle; that is just a grade 1 project that the company has already done with, the main issue here is to see if it can be better than the “king of EVs”. Xiaomi is not playing it safe; it is going in that very direction where Tesla is standing, and it wants to prove a point, even if it is for a season, as long as it manages to show the world that it is capable.

To compete with the Tesla Model Y in China, Xiaomi introduces the YU7 electric SUV

Here we go, so, Xiaomi introduces the YU7 electric SUV, and it wants to make sure it sells its EV more than Tesla’s Model Y. Currently, Tesla’s Model Y is the best-selling EV in the world, and Xiaomi wants to challenge that. Lei Jun, the company’s creator, stated on his personal Weibo that the car is intended to compete with Tesla Model Y’s hegemony in the Chinese market. This is what he said,

“Model Y is a global best-seller and has led the EV market for years. Many of you asked if XiaomiYU7 can surpass Model Y’s sales in China. We’ve set that as our goal, with deep respect for what Model Y has accomplished.”

Xiaomis stands out because:

  • it already has a Chinese market, and its electric vehicles are in demand.
  • It is bold. Bold enough to challenge a big EV company like Tesla, customers like that.
  • Xiaomi is more well-known as a consumer electronics company and is frequently referred to as the Apple of China.
  • it is not alone, Cummins Incorporated is coming for Tesla too, with its 15 litres of the most ignored fuel in history.

Why Xiaomi’s entry into the electric vehicle market isn’t as shocking as it first appears

Well, Xiaomi is not just a company that was born yesterday. It took over some part of the market when it created gadgets such as smartphones, smart TVs, wearables and more. It has some sort of understanding of how electric objects work. A car is a big deal, but it looks like the company really took its time to research and outsource the best engineers, and now we are going from just a smart TV to a whole electric vehicle. Tesla is not really safe. It has a reputation, but companies are coming for it; it is being challenged by supercomputers that have a way into vehicles and not batteries.
