- Hometown: Nashville, Tennessee
- Alma Mater: Belmont University (BA, 1995) / Austin Peay State University (MA, 1996)
- After starring at Brentwood Academy (TN), Alexander played at Belmont under legendary head coach Rick Byrd
- Inducted into the Belmont Athletic Hall of Fame in 2005
- Started his coaching career immediately, joining Byrd’s staff at Belmont as an assistant right after graduation
- Was on the Belmont staff for sixteen seasons, including four conference titles and four trips to the NCAA Tournament
- Spent two seasons as the head coach at Stetson before he was hired in May 2013 to be the new head coach at Lipscomb
- In his fourth season, the Bisons won 20 games and a year later won 23 en route to a ASUN Tournament title and the program’s first ever trip to the NCAA Tournament
- Two years later, Alexander led the Bisons to a runner-up finish in the 2019 NIT
- Hired in April 2019 to return to Belmont and replace his mentor, Rick Byrd, following his retirement
- Won a share of the OVC title and then won the OVC Tournament to earn a bid to the 2020 NCAA Tournament
- In his second season, Alexander led the Bruins to an outright OVC title but were defeated in the OVC Tournament final
