Frank Haith resigns after eight seasons as head coach at Tulsa

Tulsa announced Saturday that head men’s basketball coach Frank Haith was resigning after eight seasons. Haith went 138-108 overall, went to the NCAA Tournament once and won the AAC title in 2020. He signed an undisclosed contract extension last March, as this year would have been the final year of his deal.

“I have loved coaching these young men over the last eight years and the chance to build long-lasting relationships with them,” Haith said in a statement. “The friendships that Pam and I have with so many in the community will always remain special to us. We thank the community for being supportive of our program and my family.”

Tulsa hired Haith away from Missouri in 2014 and he brought with him early success, leading the Golden Hurricane to the NIT in his first year and the Big Dance a year later. But he has had just one 20-win season since then and went 22-32 combined over the last two seasons.

“We appreciate Frank for his commitment to The University of Tulsa and our basketball program during his eight years,” said VP and AD Rick Dickson. “We thank Frank for his dedication and tireless efforts in leading our young men and wish him and his family well in their future endeavors.”
