George Washington head coach Jamion Christian has been let go after just three seasons, the school announced on Monday. Christian was 29-50 over that time, finishing below .500 each season.
“This is a challenging day, as Jamion has faced significant adversity in his three years with us, and his relentless optimism and positivity was a source of energy on dark days,” AD Tanya Vogel said in the release. “This decision, however, was based on our performance on the court. The GW community, university leadership and I have high expectations for what our men’s basketball program should be, and we are determined to find our way back to a place on the national stage.”
Christian was hired in 2019 after going 17-16 in one season at Siena. A year earlier, he had been hired away from Mount St. Mary’s where he had twice gone to the NCAA Tournament.
