Keith Walker has been fired as the head men’s basketball coach at Delaware State. The Hornets are just 3-25 on the season, with only one of those wins coming against a Division I opponent.

In nearly five full seasons under Walker, Delaware State has gone 43-96 overall and 27-45 in MEAC play. The highlight of Walker’s tenure was the 2014-15 season (his second), in which the Hornets finished 18-18 and played in the CBI. It was the first postseason appearance for the program since the 2007 NIT.

Assistant coach Keith Johnson has been given the role of interim head coach for the remainder of the season. Delaware State has three games left on the schedule before the MEAC Tournament.

Also getting the axe on Thursday was head women’s coach Barbara Burgess.
