- Alma Mater: University of Virginia (BA, 1997)
- Played point guard at Regis HS in New York City, leading the team to a state runner-up finish in 1992 and then a state title as a senior in 1993
- Worked under Jeff Jones with the men’s basketball program at Virginia for five years, four as student manager and then one as graduate assistant
- Spent two seasons as an administrative assistant under head coach Dennis Wolff at Boston University
- Donohue would later work alongside Wolff, who is also in the Jeff Jones coaching tree, while at ODU
- Reunited with Jones in 2000, becoming one of his assistant coaches at American University in Washington DC
- Spent 13 years at American, including 2 as associate head coach, and was there for four Patriot League titles and two NCAA appearances
- Followed Jones to Old Dominion in Norfolk, VA in 2013, serving as special assistant to the head coach for the next 10+ seasons
- Part of Monarch squads that went to the NCAA Tournament in 2019 and the NIT in 2015
- Elevated to acting/interim head coach in December 2023 after Jones suffered a heart attack; Jones would later retire in February 2024
