- Alma Mater: Princeton University (BA, 1994)
- Played four years at Princeton under head coach Hall of Fame head coach Pete Carril
- Worked one year as a volunteer assistant at Columbia under Armond Hill before spending time playing professionally in Germany, Belgium and Portugal
- Was an assistant at Princeton for seven seasons, first under Bill Carmody and then under John Thompson III
- After two seasons as an assistant to Jeff Jones at American, reunited with Thompson for four years as a Georgetown assistant
- Hired as the head coach at American in 2013, leading the Eagles to a Patriot League Tournament title and NCAA berth in his first season
- Went 125-166 over ten full seasons as the head coach, but never returned to the postseason after 2014
- Brennan was fired in March 2023 following a 17-15 season, just his fourth winning campaign at AU
- Joined the coaching staff at Loyola (MD) in July 2023 as an assistant under head coach Tavaras Hardy
- Announced in May 2024 as the lead assistant at Cornell under new head coach Jon Jaques
