- Alma Mater: Old Dominion University (BA, 1995)
- The MD-native played for four seasons at Old Dominion for head coaches Oliver Purnell and Jeff Capel II, was part of two NCAA Tournament teams
- After some time in the CBA and IBA stateside, Jones played professionally in Portugal, Hong Kong, Finland and the Dominican Republic
- Got into coaching at the famed DeMatha Catholic HS in Hyattsville, MD in 2002, serving as head coach there for nineteen seasons
- Coached many future college and NBA stars, including Victor Oladipo, Quinn Cook, Jerami Grant, Markelle Fultz and Hunter Dickinson
- Won nine Washington Catholic Athletic Conference titles and four Maryland Private School Tournament championships
- Has spent many years working with USA Basketball, as well, including serving as head coach of the USA Nike Hoop Summit Team in 2013, 2014 and 2018 and led the USA Men’s U16 National Team to a gold medal in Brazil in the 2019 FIBA Americas Championship
- Left DeMatha to join the college game in 2021, spending two seasons as an assistant at Virginia Tech under Mike Young
- Returned to his home state in 2023 to become an assistant under head coach Kevin Willard with the Maryland Terrapins
- Hired in March 2024 to be the new head coach at his alma mater, Old Dominion
