- Hometown: Bloomington, Indiana
- Alma Mater: Indiana University (BA, 1995)
- Son of Hall-of-Famer Bob Knight, three-time NCAA champion at Indiana who also coached at Army and Texas Tech
- Graduated from Bloomington North HS and played for his father at Indiana; was part of the Hoosiers’ 1992 Final Four team
- First coaching jobs were with the Wisconsin Blast of the IBA and the Columbus Cagerz of the USBL (both in 1998)
- Then worked as a scout for the Phoenix Suns (NBA) and an assistant with the Connecticut Pride (CBA)
- Joined the staff at Indiana in 1999, coaching there for one year before his father’s famous firing in 2000
- Followed his father to Texas Tech in 2001, spending three years as an assistant and three and a half as associate head coach
- Was part of five NCAA Tournaments and a NIT in seven full seasons working under his father (Tech and IU)
- Named head-coach-in-waiting in 2005 and was took over in 2008 following his father’s abrupt mid-season retirement
- Went 4-7 to finish the 2007-08 season, then coached the team for the next three full seasons
- Fired in 2011 after going 50-61 overall and reaching the postseason just once (2010 NIT)
- Became the head coach at Lamar in 2011, leading the Cardinals for three seasons
- Went 23-12 in his first year, reaching the NCAA Tournament after winning Southland regular and Tournament titles
- The 2011-12 team was led by seniors and after they graduated, Knight’s teams went just 6-50 over the next two years which led to his firing in 2014; left with an overall record of 29-62 at Lamar
- Knight spent a decade working as a scout with the NBA’s Indiana Pacers, largely focused on the West Coast
- He returned to coaching in 2014, announced in May of that year as the new head coach at NAIA Marian University in Indianapolis
