- Alma Mater: Purdue University (BA, 1934)
- Graduated from Columbus HS (IN), then played basketball at Purdue for Hall of Fame coach Ward “Piggy” Lambert
- Was a starter for three seasons, helping lead the Boilers to two Big Ten titles; the Boilers were later named the 1931-32 Helms National Champions
- Started his coaching career at Tell City HS (IN), winning three Indiana HS Sectional titles in five years at the helm
- Next was a stint at Madison HS (IN), where he led the Cubs for 11 successful seasons
- Won 10 sectionals and finished as runner-up twice (1941 and 1949) before winning the IHSAA state title in 1950
- Hired to be the head coach at his alma mater Purdue in 1950, leading the Boilers for 15 seasons
- Did not reach the postseason, but finished his tenure above .500 with a 176-164 overall record
- Finished second in the Big Ten standings three different times but failed to capture the title
- Among the players Eddy coached were All-Americans Terry Dischinger and Dave Schellhase, as well as Ernie Hall, who was the first African-American (and first JUCO transfer) to ever play at Purdue
- Left coaching in 1965 to be the associate athletic director at Purdue; worked in that role until retiring in 1978
- Passed away in 1986 at the age of 75, still living in the Lafayette, Indiana area
