Zac Claus fired after four seasons as Idaho head coach

Idaho finished its regular season with a loss on Monday night and soon after announced a change of leadership, relieving head coach Zac Claus of his duties effective immediately. Claus went 28-88 in four seasons at the helm with no postseason appearances.

“I want to sincerely thank Zac and his family for their contributions to the men’s basketball program over the past eight seasons,” AD Terry Gawlik said. “Zac took over an incredibly challenging situation and stewarded our program with integrity and class throughout his entire tenure. We wish him all the best in his future endeavors.”

Claus came to Idaho as an assistant in 2016 and was named interim head coach in 2019 following Don Verlin’s firing. After going 8-24 that year, Idaho removed the interim tag and officially gave Claus the job. The Vandals would go just 1-21 the following season. This year’s team had his highest win total (10) but still finished last in the Big Sky.
