- Born April 1, 1960
- Alma Mater: University of Richmond (BA, 1983 & MA, 1987)
- First played at Catholic U in Washington, DC for head coach Jack Kvancz, before finishing his career at Richmond playing for Dick Tarrant
- Started his coaching career at Richmond, working under Tarrant for eight seasons – first as a graduate assistant then a full-time assistant
- During his time on the staff, the Spiders went to four NCAA Tournaments and won three CAA regular season titles
- Elevated to head coach at Richmond in 1993, taking over at just 33 years old; went 43-69 in four seasons at the helm
- Went 14-14 (8-6) in his first season and was named 1994 CAA COY, but finished below .500 the next three seasons
- Spent three-plus seasons as the head coach at D-III Delaware Valley (1998-2000 and 2002-03), going 22-54 overall
- In between those stints, Dooley worked as the head coach of the Irish National Basketball team
- Reached the semi-finals of the European Championship, named IBA International COY in 2002
- Later spent two seasons as head boys’ basketball coach (2005-07) at Germantown Friends School, then five seasons (2007-12) at Chestnut Hill Academy – both in Philadelphia
- Returned to the D-I college sidelines in 2012, spending three seasons on John Gallagher‘s staff at Hartford
- Worked under Dennis Wolff for one season (2015-16) with the Virginia Tech women’s basketball program
